Level Staking - the Only Sensible Way to Play Roulette

It's a well known fact in Vegas that most long-term roulette players who take regular cash from the table play with discipline – and that most definitely mean controlling your stakes. For example, let's say you bank stands at a fairly substantial 1000.00. Some roulette players may opt to start out with spins of 5.00, and 'see how things go' – maybe changing their wager level if they hitting hot wins, or alternatively need to re-coup their losses after a run of bad luck.

Now – here's why level staking is the only sensible way to play online casino roulette – including land-based games and online roulette…….

Luck and roulette

Most gamblers will tell you the same thing – you hardly ever get lucky when you have a burning need to win! Of course, this isn't always the case, and you could get lucky – but for some reason luck does seem to desert gamblers when they get desperate – and that includes roulette.

Let me give you a classic example; you have a bank of 100.00 and I ask you to place 10 even money wagers (red or black) with 1.00 per spin of the roulette reel. Now, since even money bets have a near 50% chance of winning, you have a reasonable chance of picking at least 5 winners, and possibly more than 5 to make a profit. While it's true you could hit a cycle of bad luck – you'll be hard pushed not to win several wagers. What's more, there's hardly any pressure or serious need to win – and you could lose all 10 spins (very unlikely) and still play on with your 1.00 roulette spins.

However, now imagine that I give you the same roulette bank, but tell you to spin with 25.00 per even money roulette bet – yep, that's 4 bets or you blow your bank! Now, are you feeling so confident and lucky when you literally have to win to stay in the game and protect your bank? And guess what – this kind of roulette scenario is when the table frequently seems to turn against you; you bet black and it wins on red……but if you bet on red, guess what – it comes up black! You can almost guarantee it! Whether this is the roulette and gambling gods taking revenge for foolish betting, or whether it's just chance showing you how cruel it is, who cares – it's an undeniable fact.

So, what I'm trying to say is pretty simple – the chances are you'll get better success at the roulette table by playing with a small percentage of your bankroll, to level stakes. What's more, this doesn't mean you can never play big if your starting bank and budget is small! For example, if you could add an average of 2% profit to your roulette bank per session, and you play 3 times per week for 1 hour, that's around 20% per month. Over a long period of time, such profits could be large if you use compounded stakes (such as spin with 2% of your bankroll – recalculated at the start of each session).

Spin To Win With These Simple Tips

There are hundreds of websites telling you how to play roulette with the Martingale strategy – a proven way to try and beat the game with dare, risk and luck. However, not many places tell you your chances of winning and losing. Check out the good and bad aspects of playing roulette with the infamous strategy……..

Winning with the Martingale strategy
The Martingale roulette strategy is used on even money bets such as red or black; the casino bets that are as close to 50% chance of winning as possible (with a small casino edge courtesy of the green segment). As all mathematicians will tell you, the chance of either red or black winning exclusively for a run of 6 or more even money wagers is statistically very small indeed – meaning your chance of winning 1 bet from a cycle of 4-6 spins is high. Essentially, the Martingale roulette system takes a chance that you will win within a low number of spins, and therefore progressively increases your wager level after a losing spin, to re-coup previous losses and make a 1 credit profit…….

5.00 Red (losing spin)
10.00 Red (losing spin)
20.00 Red (win)
Profit = 5.00

Most Martingale roulette players set a maximum spin number of around 6 bets; try out the concept with a free bonus and you'll see how easy it is to win.

Losing with the Martingale strategy
We've just explained how easy it is to win at roulette by using a Martingale system, but that's only one side of the story, because the strategy also has inherent risks attached to it. For example, look what happens when you hit a run that goes past 6 losing spins…..

5.00 Red (losing spin)
10.00 Red (losing spin)
20.00 Red (losing spin)
40.00 Red (losing spin)
80.00 Red (losing spin)
160.00 Red (losing spin)

In fact, even a 0.10 roulette spin can turn into a relatively big liability when you hit a bad run of luck.

0.10 Red (losing spin)
0.20 Red (losing spin)
0.40 Red (losing spin)
0.80 Red (losing spin)
1.60 Red (losing spin)
3.20 Red (losing spin)
6.40 Red (losing spin)
12.80 Red (losing spin)
25.60 Red (losing spin)

The good news is you have more chance of winning than losing, but statistics can be evil if you get unlucky at roulette. The key is to know your risks and use a maximum number of losing spin during each cycle; for example, quit and re-start after 5 losing roulette spins. This may hit your gaming bank, but it prevents really big losing sessions and gives your a chance to try and win in the long-term at roulette. Try playing with a small leisure budget and setting yourself a profit target each week;bank your winnings if you make it!
